Charity Foundation “Caritas of the Sambir-Drohobych Diocese of the UGCC” – is a charitable, social nonprofitable organization. The name for this organization wasn’t chosen accidentally. The word “caritas” comes from Greek and means “merciful love”. Herefrom one can understand that the mission of the “Caritas” organizations is aimed at breeding love to the people in need and can be represented in two directions:
1. Providing aid to people in need independently of their faith, sex, political views or nationality. Such assistance is based on the example of the Bible history about the Good Samaritan (Luke 10, 29-37), while he didn’t ask the beaten, half-dead man lying on the road: Who are you? What do you have? Have can you thank me afterwards? He helped a person in need without expecting nothing in return
2. Breeding in people feeling of mercifulness and social responsibility, so when seeing a person in need they were eager to help him.
In our activities we want to provide to a person in need not only the most necessary things, which are perishable, but first of all, we want to give him the feeling of being loved, required and important.
